Kris Allen did a cover that really mimicked this, and they sound very similar, down to the arrangement, main guitar riff, and the phrasing, but if you go listen to Allen's version, you'll see that it's different -- and if anything a bit more polished. Kris's version has a verse where he half raps the lyrics, and he has no strings in it, unlike this version.

When a band member is so influential that he defines the sound, the essence, the true being of the band, when he or she is no longer there then the band should continue but under another name. Ozzy was a force in Sabbath but Iommi defined the sound, Dio made Sabbath live on. Bon Scott was a master in AC / DC but Young and Young did the writing and defined the sound, Brian Johnson did the best job ever filling his shoes. Fish is unique! Special unreplaceable!

@chymist66 In general, I agree with you. I do enjoy post-Fish Marillion quite a bit, but it's completely a different style of prog/alternative music. They should have changed the name of the band...It's a little schizophrenic when thinking of the two eras of their music.

@ohai19 ever heard of being tonedeaf? alot of people are in fact tonedeaf, which means that they don't know what notes they are hitting. Ányone with half a brain would then realise that these are people who cannot sing. Along with the bunch of people who have problems hitting the different notes. No i'm not 15, i have however studied music for the last 3 years. didn't say anything about a real artist, as far as i'm concerned musicians aren't really artists, it's all populistic anyway
